Frequently Asked Questions

What fishing gear should I use?

  • A spinning rod of 9–10 feet with a casting weight of 10–30 grams is ideal for sea trout fishing. Pair it with a reel in size 2500–3000 and a thin braided line of 0.10–0.15 mm. Use a fluorocarbon leader of 0.25–0.30 mm. Be sure to bring a selection of inline lures, spoons, and coastal wobblers in natural colors that mimic baitfish.

  • A 9-foot fly rod in line class 5–7 pairs well with a floating or intermediate fly line. Use a tapered leader of 9 feet and a tippet of 50–70 cm — both in fluorocarbon. It’s also important to have a selection of flies, including shrimp patterns, small fish imitations, and gammarus patterns.

When should I plan my trip?

  • To be successful with sea trout fishing, it’s important to choose the right time. Spring and autumn are generally the best seasons, as sea trout are most active near the coast and the water conditions are optimal for hunting. However, sea trout can be caught year-round, and both summer and winter offer exciting fishing opportunities.
